In the Lower School, the Associate Teacher collaborates with the preschool, elementary, and special subject teachers to support the implementation of curriculum and school-day activities. The Lower School Associate Teacher reports to the Head of Lower School. Provide instructional and classroom support to homeroom and specialist teachers serving students in Preschool through Grade 5, assisting with the implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with the Lower School curriculum and instructional practices.
Serve as the primary substitute teacher within the Lower School division, covering homeroom and specialist classes on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans prepared by lead homeroom and special subject teachers, maintaining instructional continuity, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
Support teachers in facilitating classroom activities, small group instruction, and student learning experiences that align with the curriculum, resources, and training provided by the school.
Assume a lead role in facilitating selected lessons or activities during portions of the class day when appropriate.
Supervise and support students during key parts of the school day, including arrival and dismissal (carpool), lunch, recess, and other assigned duties to ensure student safety and well-being.
Provide care and supervision for students participating in the Extended Day Program as assigned.
When not assigned to substitute or duty coverage, shadow classrooms across grade levels to deepen understanding of curriculum implementation, classroom management practices, and effective instructional strategies within the Lower School program.
Communicate clearly and professionally with students, faculty, and staff, both verbally and in writing.
Collaborate constructively with teachers, administrators, and colleagues to support the overall learning environment and student experience.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, orientation programs, and in-house training opportunities designed to support growth in teaching practices and familiarity with Lower School curricula.
Engage in professional learning opportunities, including workshops or conferences, that strengthen understanding of early childhood and elementary education.
Support school events, meetings, and community functions as requested.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture that supports the well-being and growth of all students.
Support and model the mission and values of the school and contribute to the spirit and traditions of the Episcopal school community.
Compensation is contingent upon experience.
Minimum Annual Salary: $55,000
Maximum Annual Salary: $65,000
